About the Program

A sparkling tornado of identity, diasporic duality, and playful rebellion, Everything Sparks Joy captures AIKO TOMI at her most mischievous and sincere. The Toronto-based, Japanese/Taiwanese alt-pop shapeshifter invites you to a sugar-rush set of glitched-out hyperpop, ethereal synths, and sticky hooks that catch you mid-drop.

Her high-voltage performances lean into the swirl of emotional and sensory overload, sharpened by a self-aware edge. She walks the tightrope between existential dread and absurd joy, probing our obsession with image and our craving for connection in a chronically online world. It’s the kind of clarity that hits like an epiphany while scrolling your life story on a cracked phone screen with a dying battery at 3 a.m.

Come join this maximalist meditation for those who think too much, feel too hard, and dance anyway.

AIKO TOMI

Toronto alt-pop provocateur AIKO TOMI makes existential bangers for the overstimulated and self-aware. Her sophomore album, Everything Sparks Joy, is a nine-track odyssey that feels like a sugar rush at the end of the world: messy, euphoric, hilarious, and just smart enough to make you double-take.

Blending feminine power with childlike mischief, Tomi delivers sticky hooks, explosive beats, and razor-sharp wordplay that capture the beauty in chaos. Her music resonates with anyone navigating cultural expectation, emotional intensity, or the sense of being slightly off-center, while striking a rare balance between fun and depth.

Her work has been featured in The Guardian, Complex, and CBC Radio, with singles landing on editorial playlists including Spotify’s Fresh Finds, hyperpop, Fresh Finds Pop, Fresh Finds Dance, and Tidal’s Dance Pop.

Live, Tomi is magnetic and surreal, turning every set into part dance party, part inner monologue, part fever dream. This is existential pop for the romantically hopeful, culturally split, and radically self-defined.
