About the Program

“Hōo Lí ê Kua (Song for You)” originated as a lullaby written for a child, but it quickly evolved into a powerful cry for human rights, national sovereignty, and local cultural identity. Like many of TUDI-VOICE’s works, the song speaks of everyday life and deep reflection. With an unwavering love for the land, TUDI-VOICE pours immense energy into their music, offering thoughtful critiques of civilization and progress. From rural villages to urban centers, from mountain tribes to fishing harbors, their music travels across Taiwan, searching for the roots of the land. Through their heartfelt songs, TUDI-VOICE nourishes and uplifts the soul.

Drawing inspiration from themes such as land, culture, society, family, and the self, TUDI-VOICE blends Taiwanese folk melodies with the spirit of rock to ignite a grassroots revolution for equality, justice, and freedom. Their music remembers past wounds, resistance, and helplessness—transforming pain into creation. Using a mix of instruments like guitar, yueqin (moon lute), cello, bass, and African drums, they weave together diverse cultural sounds and harmonies to spark musical fire. Everyone deserves to live without violence or oppression, to be treated with dignity. May every listener find healing in their music, live with confidence and freedom, and walk toward a humane and just society.

TUDI-VOICE

TUDI-VOICE— Sounds coming from the very roots of rural Taiwan

Since the founding of the band in 2006, TUDI-VOICE has been using music to voice concerns for the agricultural and lower social class of Taiwan. By adopting Taiwanese folk and the spirit of rock as the foundation of its composition, the band has created a Taiwanese country folk rock that is truly one of a kind.

Strong in its faith and love for the land of Taiwan, TUDI-VOICE pours its energy into creating music that shares insight on topics relating to civilization and development.

From countrysides to cities, from indigenous tribes to fishing villages, the voice of TUDI-VOICE continues to walk the roads of Taiwan, in search for its roots.
