About the Program

There are some movies whose plots we may have long forgotten, yet the moment the theme song plays, the memories come flooding back.

In recent years, a series of digitally restored classic Taiwanese films have returned to the big screen, allowing people of different generations to revisit the cities, lifestyles, and people of the past. New films also continually look back at history, reinterpreting past stories through a contemporary lens. Film has thus become a vessel for memory, and the soundtrack is often the part that most easily lingers in people’s hearts.

Violinist Tom Su has always believed that music should not be confined to concert halls. He devotes much of his time to community activities and performs in hospitals and other settings where people go about their daily lives, bringing music to diverse audiences.

Through 12 film scores and 12 segments of cinematic memories, Tom Su will take the audience on a journey through the classic films that once captured the hearts of the Taiwanese people, allowing us to rediscover the stories that once moved us.

He also shares his violin online—especially during the pandemic—to reach and soothe those in need via YouTube. Inspired by his father’s values, Tom blends artistry with compassion, creating moments of deep human connection through music.
