This music performance is woven from the life experiences of violinist Tom Su. He has stepped into the rooms of terminally ill children to play familiar melodies, and helped an elderly woman with dementia recall her wedding dance from 60 years ago. Behind every note lies a moment of deep connection and earnest compassion. This program features four true and moving stories—each inspired by Tom’s time in Penghu, now reimagined and shared on the stage in Vancouver. An amazing opportunity for parents with young children and families of all backgrounds to experience how Tom Su has inspired the children of Penghu with his stories and music!
Tom Su is a classically trained violinist and dedicated community volunteer based in Greater Vancouver. A former immigrant from Taiwan, he brings heartfelt music into the lives of terminally ill children, dementia patients, and seniors in long-term care through his performances at hospitals and care facilities. He also shares his violin online—especially during the pandemic—to reach and soothe those in need via YouTube. Inspired by his father’s values, Tom blends artistry with compassion, creating moments of deep human connection through music.
